Your account hits a pay out threshold.
You’re locked out.
Your money? Withheld 🚫.
Support? Silent 🔇.
I’m sharing my experience with Vinted because this could happen to anyone.
Over a week ago, I received an email from Vinted stating my payout had failed due to a “threshold” being met. Immediately after, I was locked out of my account. The platform instructed me to verify my identity, but I can’t access the identity verification link because I’m locked out.
So now:
I can’t access my money
I can’t verify my identity
And I’ve received no help, just generic automated replies
Here’s what I’ve done since then:
✅ Submitted my ID and bank statement multiple times
✅ Provided transaction proof
✅ Sent formal complaints to Vinted, including to
legal@vinted.co.uk
❌ Received no human response
❌ No confirmation of my complaint
❌ No access to my account or funds
❌ No timeline for resolution
I’ve had to research consumer and financial law on my own, because no one will tell me what’s happening or what rights I actually have.
🧾 What You’re Not Told About Vinted
Vinted uses Mangopay, a payment provider based in Luxembourg - not the UK.
That means your money doesn’t sit in a standard UK bank account. Instead, it goes into a “wallet” controlled by Mangopay, governed by terms you likely never read and with fewer protections than you might expect.
When things go wrong?
❌ No support team to contact
❌ No clear escalation path
❌ No timeline for resolution
❌ No live chat, phone, or UK-based help
They can:
Freeze your funds
Lock you out of the platform
Leave you in the dark with no legal clarity
🛑 Should We Be Boycotting Platforms That Operate This Way?
Let’s be clear:
This isn’t a minor delay or slow response — this is a financial service locking out users, withholding funds, and offering no recourse or resolution.
This isn’t just frustrating - it’s unsafe.
⚖️ I’m Asking for Help
If you’re a consumer rights advocate, legal expert, regulator, or fintech professional, I need advice:
What legal protections apply to users on platforms like Vinted?
What obligations do Mangopay and Vinted have under UK and EU financial regulations?
Where can locked-out users turn when they’re ignored, and funds are withheld?
Is the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) relevant here?
What can we do collectively to demand accountability?
If you’ve had a similar experience, please speak up.
This is a warning to all sellers and buyers: your money isn’t safe if the platform fails you.
